GOA

Ongoing Project

The Goa Foundation

Rapid Enhancement of decentralised municipal waste processing capacity in the state of Goa

Grant Amount : Rs.12,04,500

The project seeks to provide and initiate the implementation of long term, institutional solutions to the persistent problem of domestic solid wastes generated from various sources, commercial and residential, in Goa. There will be a series of intensive workshops for personnel and staff involved in the disposal of wastes and they will be given practice-oriented training. Participants would get a thorough demonstration of the art of manufacturing EM solutions from EM concentrate. Visits to existing processing units will be arranged where they will be given advice and assistance. The NGO will help interested persons to construct treatment facilities and in setting up waste-conversion units using EM technology and vermiculture. Advice on converting waste into economically useful products will also be offered. To strengthening the pool of expertise within the organization, they will have a team of service providers on a regular basis, who will always be available to the stakeholders. The project claims that the technology developed can be handled by anyone, even the uneducated. For sustaining the project, the NGO has already taken steps to set up a non-profit company that will remain as a permanent source of information and expertise.
