The idea of the project was to enhance the local communities’ perception about the importance of the medicinal plant species and their benefit, identify the new sustainable harvesting techniques and train the communities for management of forest resources. The stress was also given to assess the feasibility of ex situ conservation through cultivation of important medicinal plant species on farmers farms and provide risk coverage to experimenting farmers during the initial phase, also to identify interested pharmaceutical industries and build linkages in an attempt to eliminate middle men and increase profitability for the local communities from the sale of herbal plants and also the semi processed products.

“Conservation and Protection of Environment by Eco-sustainable technique in Agriculture”

Grant Amount : Rs. 7,55,000

The project intends for the cultivation of off seasonal vegetables and different techniques to prepare organic manure and biocide, awareness campaigns, training of farmers on demonstration plot, procurement of educational material and seed to farmers for organic farming and documentation of project activities. It also includes the training in preparation of different types of organic manures and biocides prepared from locally available materials and to popularize use of organic manure and biocides, IPM (Integrated Pest Management) techniques among the farmers specifically to discourage the use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural practices.
