“To Design & Develop a Decentralized, Participative System of Waste Management in a selected ward of Paharganj Zone of Delhi Municipal Corporation”

The purpose of this project is to use innovative means to create an understanding and pro-active action at the ground level about Solid Waste Handling in a specific area through multi-sectorial participation. The project further expects to determine sector specific needs and find ways of addressing them collaboratively. In this context, the project also intends to facilitate the informal sector of kabaris and rag pickers articulate their issues of concern and build their capacity to find solutions to these. Finally the project goal also includes demonstrating the concept of norms for waste management at the zonal level. All these add up to definite environment improvement with local capacity and initiative.

“Integrated Conservation and Development Project on the Periphery of Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary”

Grant Amount: Rs.13,88,800


The proposed project is to mobilise the farmers to include cultivation and sale of selected species of medicinal plants and herbs to reduce their risk associated with crop failure and open avenues for non-agricultural income generation through processing activities. Create detailed watershed plans for each micro-watershed falling in the relocation area and the prior emphasis is given to improve the conservation potential of Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary through the eco-development activities in the villages that has been relocated from the sanctuary area.

"Participatory Water Harvesting Technologies Promoting Land Development"

Grant Amount: Rs. 1498848/-

The project aims to revive the traditional water harvesting system by using folk wisdom and techniques so that ground water and water level in the wells is recharged, water for irrigation is sufficient, vegetation cover is enhanced and most importantly, drinking water is made available to the community especially during summer months. They also undertake to check the distress sale of milk animals. This project promises local employment generation for people below the poverty line within their villages, thus reversing the trend of migration to other areas. Community members will be sensitised and educated on water issues, management of the harvesting structures and work out village level agreements for the water use and benefits sharing between partners.
