"Participatory
Water Harvesting Technologies Promoting Land Development" |
|
Grant Amount: Rs. 1498848/- |
|
The project aims to revive the traditional water harvesting system by
using folk wisdom and techniques so that ground water and water level
in the wells is recharged, water for irrigation is sufficient, vegetation
cover is enhanced and most importantly, drinking water is made available
to the community especially during summer months. They also undertake
to check the distress sale of milk animals. This project promises local
employment generation for people below the poverty line within their villages,
thus reversing the trend of migration to other areas. Community members
will be sensitised and educated on water issues, management of the harvesting
structures and work out village level agreements for the water use and
benefits sharing between partners. |
