“Design and
Implementation of Renewable Energy Villages in Papumpare District,
Arunachal Pradesh” |
|
Grant Amount: Rs.9,81,325/ - |
|
The main objective of the project was to design and disseminate Renewable
Energy Technologies (RETs) at the village-level to meet the community
needs. The project focused on efficient utilization of energy by introducing
solar lanterns, solar home lighting systems, and improved chulhas (cook
stoves), improved kerosene lanterns and by undertaking energy plantation
in some selected villages. The activities of the project involved assessment
of the energy needs, estimates supply and demand of various energy sources,
design energy interventions with community involvement and set up village
level committees, train beneficiaries and unemployed youth for the management
of the device. |

Community
based development of an information base and preliminary management
plan for the Apatani plateau and Talle valley
|
|
Grant
Amount : Rs.9,68,000 |
|
To evolve an information base and yield a preliminary management plan
for the project areas, the traditional tribal use and practices of the
Apatani People will be drawn upon. Seed data collection will be used
to formulate a documentation guided by experts. Documentation of wildlife
will be done with the help of village volunteers and school students
using modern technologies to capture the images of little known wildlife
species in the area. Village volunteers will be involved in gathering
data regarding land use and ownership in the Apatani Plateau, Traditional
Apatani forestry practices including existing sustainable cultivation
of bamboo and blue pine practices and other additional information.
Workshops for community volunteers will be conducted through which they
will be trained in data collection techniques for documenting flora
and fauna. |

Community
based sustainable development on the holistic perspective of the
Contour-Hedgerow (inter cropping) farming Technology (CHFT) |
|
Grant Amount: Rs. 10,53,000/- |
|
This project undertakes to develop prototypes of cost effective CHFT
at different elevations in the project area and assess its impact on crop
productivity and soil erosion. Nitrogen fixing species will be sown as
for the hedgerow. Double hedgerows will be planted at a distance of 30-60
cms.. Their height will be maintained up to knee level. Alleys will be
planted with suitable short and long term crop species. Mulch of hedgerow
will be applied in alleys for natural decomposition and slow release of
nutrients to the soil. Fuel/timber and other commercial species may also
be planted with crops. An on-demonstration of CHFT models-cum-common facilitation
centre with nursery will also be set up. This technology will be integrated
with other appropriate technology for higher productivity through awareness
programmes, networking and skill development of farmers and women. The
entire project will involve farmers for large-scale replication of the
technology. For this, farmers' groups/clubs will be formed and marketing
skills and networking for the products will be strengthened and promoted
amongst farmers. |
