JAMMU & KASHMIR

Ongoing Project

Namgyal Institute for People with Disability (NIPWD) - A unit of Namgyal Institute for Research on Ladakhi Art & Culture (NIRLAC)

Paper Recycling Unit – Disability Leadership Group (DLG)

Grant Amount: Rs. 415950

This project undertakes to provide people with disabilities equal opportunities for participation and decision-making by providing them an environment-friendly income generation option, so that they will also be ultimately considered as 'human capital'. They undertake to reduce the menace of paper waste in the pristine Ladakhi environment, use it in an eco-friendly way by creating a market for handmade paper products and forming local marketing committees. They will provide training in recycling and identify government loans and schemes for beneficiaries. This way a Waste Management System will be put in place and an integrated movement for reducing environmental pollution, in general will be facilitated.
